June 27, 2008 Mini-Reunion

A mini-reunion attended by fourteen members of SPC Batch 1976 was held at the Cam’s residence at the Mejia Subdivision during the birthday celebration of Roland on the 27th of June.

Discussed during the meeting were the following points:

  1. Batch Sinking Fund
  2. 2011 Coral Anniversary
  3. Renewal of Batch Account Signatories

To ensure a ready source of financial aid  (and based on previous experiences) for deserving cases, ie: contribution to a batch mate’s funeral costs and to a batch mate’s urgent medical costs (e.g.: major surgery, loss of income due to debilitating health conditions such as coma, stroke, paralysis, etc.), baseline sinking funds have been agreed upon according to two categories.  Philippine-based batch mates will have the choice to contribute between three hundred (300) and a thousand (1,000) pesos while foreign-land based batch mates will be requested to contribute US$ 100 or its equivalent.  This agreement is to take effect by January 2009.

The next major batch reunion, the Coral Anniversary (35 years) is tentatively set on any date in June 2011.  Suggestions with regards to venue and other details are very much welcome.

Lastly, a move to renew the batch account was opened and approved.  As of this writing, the group account stands at 17,000 pesos.  This amount will be entered into a new bankbook with three signatories, namely: Lilot Pantino-Alama, Roland Cam, and Marcelina Hayo-Ranot.

For your information and or comments.

December 29, 2006 Pearl Anniversary

THIRTY YEARS AND GOING STRONG

In celebration of our Pearl Anniversary, Batch 1976 held a reunion last  29 December 2006 at Bong Fran’s Farm at Margen, Ormoc City.

The day started with a mass at the farm’s chapel.  Rev. Fr. Edgar Mallen officiated the mass while the youth choir of Curva led the singing.  (Rev. Fr. Mallen is also an SPCian and belongs to Batch ’77).

We were very happy and grateful that some of our former teachers, namely: Mrs. Perla Sia, Mrs. Rudine Alarde, and Miss Felicidad Sia, were able to join us.

After the mass, lunch was served in one of the cottages.  There was plenty of food and they all tasted great.

A short program followed after lunch, very ably hosted by Luz Raden and Emeterio Aviles.  In the said program, tokens of appreciation were given to our former teachers and to Luc Machiels for putting up our class website.  A raffle was likewise conducted.

The following batchmates attended the reunion, namely:

Reunions are hard to organize especially since most of us do not reside anymore in Ormoc and have busy schedules.  Let’s hope that in our next reunion, more batchmates can attend.  It’s always good to renew old ties, relive the memories and catch up with each other’s lives.

Special thanks go to the organizers of this get-together and to those who contributed funds but were not able to attend.

January 28 , 2006 Reunion

The first get-together for the year of SPC Batch 1975-76 was held last 28th of January at Marilou “Lilot” Pantino Alama’s place in Cogon between two in the afternoon and ten in the evening.  It was attended by Nenita “Neneth” Enfectana Garciano, Mercedita “Neneng” Talaboc Biato, Pepito “Pepe” Oroc, Marcela “Mars” Labiste Perreja, Isabelita “Lilit” Apolinar, Augusto “Moloy” Hermosilla, Edwin & Hermie Pogoy Ponce, Emeterio Aviles, Allan Noval, Roland & Rosemarie Cam, Yvonne Samson Ragasa, Lolita Arañez Icarangal, Inez Larrazabal Vesuña, Marcelina “Baby” Hayo Ranot, Luz Raden, and Teofilo “Lou-Lou” & Ging-ging Sios-e.  The non-stop rain didn’t dampen the “always young at heart” spirits of the now forty-plussers, whose main topics of conversation included bad cholesterol levels, traffic tales, weights & waistlines, among others.

The upcoming December reunion was also discussed.  It was agreed that the batch’ Pearl anniversary will either be held on the 27th or the 28th at Luis “Bong” Fran’s farm in Margen.  Catering services will be availed of at 200 pesos per head.  The Ormoc-based batchmates will prepare a surprise number, and a grand tombola is envisioned to be sponsored by the non-Phil residents.  There will be souvenirs and give-aways to mark the occasion.

Logistics and other SOP details will be arranged through our website board, e-mails, and other possible forms of communication.  Hopefully, a unanimous decision and final plan will be arrived at between the Ormoc-based and the non-resident batchmates before mid-year.

February 20, 2001 Silver Jubilee

ALUMNI HOMECOMING

This year, our alma mater, Saint Peter's College (SPC), celebrated its 87th Foundation Day. The festivities kicked off with a parade and a field demonstration on 16 February 2001. The following day a pet show was sponsored by our batch, the Silver Jubilarians (1975-1976 High School Graduates).

On 20 February 2001, an Alumni Homecoming was held --- the highlight of this year's celebration and which our batch hosted.

At 6:00 p.m., a thanksgiving mass was celebrated at the school gymnasium with Msgr. Pastor Cotiangco, himself a Golden Jubilarian, as the main celebrant. Dinner was served immediately after.

A short program, conceived and organized by this year's alumni officers, started after dinner. Sister M. Celine Saplala, OSB, the SPC President, delivered the welcome address. Thereafter, the Golden Jubilarians (1950-1951 High School graduates) rendered a song while Silver Jubilarians Ma. Teresa Cape-Mandras, Marcelina Hayo-Ranot, and Marcela Labiste-Pereja presented a dance number (with the participation of Marilou Pantino-Alama's sister Jocelyn Pantino-Plarisan). Certificates of Recognition were awarded to the Golden Jubilarians present by Sister Celine and Deborah Lladoc-Franco, this year's Alumni President. The program ended with Deborah's Closing Remarks. Non-stop dancing then became the order of the night.

The following from our batch attended the homecoming, namely: Cora Barja-Rigor, Roland Cam, Ma. Lily Capala-Flores, Ma. Teresa Cape-Mandras, Ma. Victoria Diaz-Tamelin, Nenita Enfectana-Garciano, Susana Guarino, Marcelina Hayo-Ranot, Marcela Labiste-Pereja, Pepito Oroc, Marilou Pantino-Alama, Cesar Perez, Edwin Ponce, Jose Sacay, Yvonne Samson-Ragasa, Ramon Sia, Hugo Sios-e Jr., Teofilo Sios-e Jr., Alfredo Vasquez, Michael Yared, Ednora Ymas-Caoctoy and Rodrigo Ymas.

Not contented with the dancing that was done at the SPC gymnasium, our batch proceeded to SAL's Bar and Restaurant for some drinks and more dancing. There, Alan Noval who got confused with the postponement date and thereby missed the homecoming celebration at the gym, was able to join us for the rest of the evening.

The Alumni Homecoming was originally scheduled on 18 February but due to Typhoon Auring it was rescheduled to 20 February 2001. Nevertheless, our batch decided to hold a mini-reunion on the evening of 18 February, at Roland's place, braving gusty winds and heavy rains. The following were able to attend: Nelin Capala-Celerio, Mario Corro, Joel Duero, Luis Alfonso Fran Jr., Jose Gaquit Jr., and those present during the SPC Alumni Homecoming (except for Susana, Marcela, Pepito, Yvonne, and Rodrigo).

The resounding success of this year's alumni homecoming was made possible through the tireless efforts of our Class Officers ably headed by our President, Marilou.

Renewing acquaintances and ties with our high school friends and classmates, and reliving the good old days will always be memorable as we continue to move on with our lives. Mabuhay ang SPC High School Class 1975-76 !!!!
